Can I use Deepy with a Dial Up connection?
Not at this stage. Deepy was designed for broadband users and requires fast
internet connections (DSL, Cable, etc.) because of the nature of its features.
However, it will work with slow connections, but will be slow. Meanwhile, we
are happy to say that our engineers are working on creating an optimized
version for Dial Up users that will mimic the broadband version.

I use Broadband, but still Deepy takes seconds to display results. What's wrong?
Deepy does a lot of processing on the Server side in order to generate the
TextShot and display the results. We are doing our best to optimize that and
you should experience better speed and performance in the near future.

What is the Keyword Recommender?
Deepy has a unique feature that provides keyword recommendations as you
start typing, on the Home Page itself. Keyword recommendations include spelling
corrections and word/phrase recommendations, etc. The feature relies on a
database of words extracted from its index and search logs.

Why does Deepy provide me wrong recommendations at times; those that are different from what I am typing?
This feature is still in a Beta state and we are working on enhancing the
algorithm that renders Keyword recommendations. Expect better recommendations
soon.

How can I apply the spelling/keyword recommendation?
After the recommendation is printed on the screen, you can use one of the following options to apply it:

B. Double Click on the recommendation to fire the search directly.

I don't want the recommendation. Can I just search with my own keywords?

What is TextShot?
TextShot is the frame that you see in the lower half of the Search Results
screen, when you click on the "View TextShot" link that appears by the side of
each result in the Search Results Page. It displays a light version of the
actual website in the search results. It's the same site, except that the
Images, Multimedia, and Scripts are stripped from the page, which makes it very
fast to load; instantly, as opposed to the actual website, which may take even
minutes sometimes. It contains all the text based information of the original
page maintaining its original style (fonts, colors, size, and tables, etc.) and
it provides some helpful functions that make locating the information an
enjoyable experience .e.g.; when the TextShot is loaded, it scrolls down
directly to the very first instance of the searched keywords, saving time for
the user that's spent in having to actually look up the page to find the
keywords' instances. The TextShot also has a toolbar that displays the searched
keywords with different colors, clicking on any of those colored keywords takes
the user directly to the succeeding instances of the keyword, with a red
colored border around the keyword instances. It's also possible to display a
full version of the TextShot, by clicking the "Load Full Site" button, in case
the user is interested to see the page in its original layout and design.
Moreover, the TextShot toolbar also offers the capability to Zoom in and out of
the content of the TextShot. Besides that, it's possible also to resize the
TextShot frame by dragging & dropping the toolbar border.

I have clicked on the site title,
wanting to go to the original website, but instead it opened the TextShot view
in full window...that's nice but how can I go to the original site?
You can go to the original website by either of the following methods:
-
By clicking on the small icon that looks like two small windows and appears at
the end of each Search Result's Title, you can open the original website in a
new window.
-
By right clicking on the Search Result's title and then choosing the "Open Link
In a New Window", you can open the original website in a new window.
-
In case the site is not accessible, you can view our cached copy of the site by
clicking on the "Load Full Site" button from the TextShot view toolbar.
TOP
-
Can I hide the TextShot Frame?
Yes. You can do that by clicking on the 'X' icon at the extreme right
corner of the TextShot toolbar.

What are those numbers at the bottom of the Results Page?
Deepy uses a Tabbed Paging technology to tab the pages in the Search
Results. Those numbers that you see at the bottom are actually the Numbered
Tabs that contain sets of Result pages identified by their ranks. Each tab
contains 5 results each and clicking on any tab displays the respective five
results that it contains.
TOP
-
What are the 'Back' and 'Forward' buttons for?
These buttons are there to support moving back and forth among the search
results that are stored in the numbered tabs. Clicking on the 'Forward' button
can act in two ways; if you are currently viewing the results in the last
visible tab (the last one to the bottom right), then clicking the 'Forward'
button will replace all the current numbered tabs and populate them with the
next 5 tabs that store the next 25 result pages, or else, if you are currently
viewing any other tab leaving the last visible tab, then clicking the 'Forward'
button will show the tab with the next five results. Clicking on the 'Back'
button also works in a similar fashion as the 'Forward' button; if you are
currently viewing the results in the first visible tab (the last one to the
bottom left), then clicking the 'Back' button will replace all the current
numbered tabs and instantly populate them with the last 5 tabs that store the
last 25 result pages, or else, if you are currently viewing any other tab
leaving the first visible tab, then clicking the 'Back' button will show the
tab with the last five results. While going back to a previous set of results
you will see them instantly as they are now cached in the browser memory and do
not need to load again, unlike the case in most of the other Search
Engines.

Sometimes I see 5 results at a time from one computer and from another computer I see 10 results. Why is that so?
When you visit Deepy, we detect your Screen Resolution on the fly and we
display number of the results according to it e.g.; if your screen resolution
is 800X600, we show 5 results in each tab and in case it is 1280X1024, we show
you 10 results in each tab. We do that to make sure that you will always get a
neat looking display in your window no matter what your screen resolution is.
